I.. really want to see it. The books are absolute drivel and it saddens me to think that this is the kind of reading material young girls are being exposed to. (SERIOUSLY GIRLS, YOU WILL HAVE BLEEDING ONCE A MONTH LONG BEFORE YOU OUGHT TO BE HAVING CHANCES OF GETTING PREGNANT.) And sparkling, wtf? I want to see it anyway, I'm a sucker for terrible things XD
But they're kind of neat in a really terrible way, and they could have been so much more awesomer if they'd been run through a spell-checker, and if the editor caught things like "dust moats" and the wrong useage of "'til" (vs. till).
And RPattz is totally awesome.

I have plans to make this jacket before the end of the year so I can wear it before all the lovely cold weather goes away. But I have a few obstacles. Firstly, I'm patching a pattern together from multiple patterns and my own alterations and because of this I'm not really sure how to go about making a lining. Ideally, I'd like the lining to be in fewer pieces than the outer coat portion, but I'm not really sure how to do that. Anyone have any suggestions or advice on this?
The second problem also has to deal with the lining: the fabric I have isn't quite a deep or dark enough red, so I want to dye it in the washing machine. But would it be better to construct the lining first and then dye it or to dye the whole fabric first then cut out the lining? In the former case I'd be worried about the constructed lining fraying beyond attaching; in the latter, I'd be worried that the fabric wouldn't be evenly exposed to the dye. Is there a way to help or make sure that the fabric is evenly dyed?

The most recent necklace was missing something, and none of my existing pendants were working. Fast forward to this morning...found a pair of earrings that I rarely wear, and the color was perfect!

...again some new progress concerning the neck embroidery for my blue 12th century dress with gathered body part...
...btw. I use the yellow silk floss for the couching and the blue silk thread for the outlining - I bought this silk threads and many other beautiful colored silk threads at the "Handweavers Studio" in London (http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Agora/9814/) - and for the "gold thread" I use thread called 'OPHIR' from the 'Coats GmbH' company - I buy this thread in a small shop here in Vienna - this thread is 40% Polyester and 60%Viscose and is much easier to handle than the 'gold thread' with some % real gold in it... :)
...btw. many thanks to pogbody for the hint with the "Handweavers Studio" - I spent a lot of money there but I think it is worth every single Penny :)

The last weeks were very busy und the next two weeks will be extremely stressful... ...but there is a light at the end of the tunnel - I have so many leave days left I have to consume before the next year starts and my boyfriend insisted that I have to take a holiday with him (without a SCA-event and including a hotel room with comfortable beds *lol*) - therefore I asked a travel agency I know and we got a very good offer - I will be in Amsterdam from 7th to 10th of December and I am sure that I will take a lot of photos :)

Hello! I have a terribly generalized question- Anyone care to share any links or ideas for fabric crafts? I'm ready to turn my craft area into a holiday work station.
I simply have too much fabric! Most of it is in smaller, under 2 yards, segments. I have some fleece among that. I was planning to make a purse and plushie or two. Ideas? Thanks in advance!

Yes, passing on information can still be gossip especially when it is something you overheard and the person you are telling it to isn't directly involved in the situation. It is intentionally hurtful.
You have lost my trust. You will never get it back. Good thing you probably don't even care...

It seems that lately I've been questioning everything. Not just my current career path (such as it is) but every aspect of my life.
Where do I want to live? Do I want to live alone or with other people? With a partner or with friends? Do I even want to live in a single location, or travel for months or years at a time? Maybe live overseas, for a while or permanently? What about co-housing?
You see how it is.
So one of the things that I've been thinking a lot about is food. Always a major preoccupation of mine anyway, it's become an issue fraught with political issues and personal angst. I blame Michael Pollan. Even though I'd thought about food and diet in the past it was Pollan's book The Omnivore's Dilemma that really made me realize just how much of what we think we know about food is just wrong. ( Cut for length )

| Subject: | looking to ESTABLISH A FRIENDLY RELATIONSHIP with a dancer who isn't a douchebag |
| Security: | Public |
You know what? I'd love to be seeing someone who dances. Like, I mean, folk and ballroom and swing and so on. Hell, it doesn't even have to be a dating-with-intent-for-more thing. I'd just like to know someone I can call up and say, "Hey, there's a swing dance/ceili/country dance happening, wanna go?" and have them say yes instead of making excuses.
(Side note: doesn't anyone dance for fun in this country? Does it all have to be drunken moshing?)
The one guy I ever was involved with who danced as a significant part of his life was a COMPLETE AND UTTER DOUCHEBAG WHO STILL NEEDS AN ASSKICKING. And we didn't even dance after we got involved. And the involvement was brief. Very brief. (Would have been even briefer had I had all my shit together and all the facts, though.)
The only other guy I ever was involved with who came to a dance with me is my most recent ex -- we went to an Irish ceili and a Scottish ceilidh -- and I spent a year and a half wishing he'd do it with me again.
Hello? Just because dancing well helps you pick up chicks doesn't mean you can stop being fun once you've snared one. Christ. It's called maintenance, people.
To everyone I've ever danced with: THANK YOU. You've managed to make me very happy with little effort, just by being happy to dance. Please don't ever stop. And come by and say hello when you're back in town so we can dance more.

Human Variation blog -- contains nudity.
Real people's bodies. Excellent.
Can't remember how I got there.
I think I've regained my usual philosophy: prepare for the worst, don't bother wasting energy on hoping for the best. If it'll come, it'll come, and the energy is best spent on doing something useful in the meantime. Like macramé. Everyone could use another ropework wall hanging.
EDIT TO ADD: I LOLed.
Ages ago, I found a website that attempted to list every folk dance in the world as well as its steps. I've lost it. Has anyone been able to find it?

Ok I have done as much painting of the scrolls as I can do tonight. Getting really really tired. I gotta get up at 6:30 am. Going to cut the cardboard to protect them and then crawl into bed for a few hours. They are pretty so far, but are they worthy?
